Seattle Parks Foundation was founded as a partner for Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR), and became an independent nonprofit in 2001. They provide 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and a suite of accounting, insurance, fundraising, and advocacy services to community groups that are making park projects happen across Seattle.

SPF serves as fiscal sponsor to Volunteer Park Trust, and to more than 80 groups spearheading public space projects across the city. All our donations and invoice payments are processed and recorded through them.

Although our finances flow through SPF, Volunteer Park Trust maintains separate leadership, fundraising, budget, and staff, and manages a parallel accounting system.
