Seattle Parks and Recreation

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) owns and manages Volunteer Park. However, it currently has a $267 million backlog of citywide park maintenance costs, and cannot fully address all the needs of Volunteer Park’s 48 acres and aging infrastructure. Volunteer Park Trust was formed to help address these needs.

We work closely with SPR on all our capital projects in Volunteer Park. SPR’s ProView (Project Review) and ProView Tech (Technical Project Review) are internal regular meetings that review funded capital projects and other proposals that have the potential to change the look or use of a park or facility. The reviews are designed to ensure development projects are consistent with SPR goals and mission, meet ADA requirements and approved engineering design standards, and can be adequately maintained and operated.
