VPT’s Emerging Leaders Committee added the first pilot round of 30 tree identification plaques for the park on Saturday, November 9th. These plaques will help park visitors learn about the diverse, fascinating selection of tree species that call Volunteer Park home.
The first phase of plaques were installed in the southeast corner of the park. Volunteers helped to install the plaques on the sign holders, digging or augering holes in tree beds, and installed the plaques next to their respective trees.
The Emerging Leaders Committee plans to install additional plaques throughout the park. Stay tuned for further information on this addition to Volunteer Park.
The tree identification plaques were funded by community donations to Volunteer Park Trust.
