Remembering Dan Streissguth

Volunteer Park Trust mourns the recent passing of Dan Streissguth and sends our deepest condolences to his wife, Ann, and his son, Ben.

Dan and Ann created Streissguth Gardens in 1972, transforming a Capitol Hill slope into a stunning formal garden over the next 24 years. In 1996, the gardens were given to Seattle Parks and incorporated into the St. Mark’s Greenbelt.

Far more than a gardener, Dan was a noted architect, philanthropist, adventurer, and more. You can read about his life and contributions here. He will be dearly missed.

Dan passed away peacefully at home from natural causes. Services will be live broadcast on December 3rd, at noon.
