In celebration of the completion of the new Volunteer Park Amphitheater, join Volunteer Park Trust and Seattle Parks and Recreation for the Grand Opening celebration featuring music and keynote speakers on Saturday, July 2nd from 2:00-7:00pm. Bring a picnic, your blanket, and your friends and family. Food trucks will also be available.

After seven years and countless volunteer hours spent doing outreach, planning, design, and fundraising, the new Amphitheater at Volunteer Park is opening. This is the first new building for this historic park in 50 years and it is the only public outdoor stage in the region capable of supporting professional dance with its custom-designed resilient stage floor. The former amphitheater, an aging concrete-and-brick stage, needed major upgrades to meet our community’s needs. Volunteer Park Trust led the effort to replace that structure with a new, thoughtfully designed facility by the award-winning architectural team at ORA.
The new Amphitheater includes full ADA accessibility, a roof, all-gender bathrooms, storage space, an actors’ dressing room, and a resilient stage floor for performance. When not used for performances, the stage’s back wall will swing back, creating an inviting, covered pavilion.
Over the summer we will also host the Summer Series at the Amphitheater, hosting six free shows and performances on Thursday evenings, July 14 to August 18, from 6:00-8:30pm. Further details and information can be found here.

Transportation
The Amphitheater in Volunteer Park can be reached by light rail (Capitol Hill Station) and Metro bus routes #10 and #49. Some parking is available in Volunteer Park, but we encourage use of public transportation.

- Seattle Parks and Recreation partnered with Volunteer Park Trust to build an innovative public Amphitheater that will greatly enhance and enrich the Capitol Hill neighborhood and the greater Seattle area. Seattle Parks and Recreation provides welcoming and safe opportunities to play, learn, contemplate and build community, and promotes responsible stewardship of the land.
- ORA is an award-winning architecture firm responsible for the design of the new Amphitheater.
- Modern Enterprises, LLC is the production company responsible for producing Summer Series at the Amphitheater.
- Walker Macy Landscape Architecture is the landscape firm responsible for the design of the landscape around the Amphitheater.
- Kassel & Associates is the construction company that worked on the new Amphitheater.
