Work begins on water tower

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) has begun work on the Volunteer Park Water Tower to reduce minor flooding on nearby pedestrian pathways.

They are upgrading the drainage systems, stormwater grates and piping system, and assure us that they will take precautions to protect all tree roots.

During this time, the Water Tower will remain open but one stairway entry will be closed temporarily to accommodate concrete pours.

One-half of the traffic circle will be closed, but two-way traffic will be allowed on the open half.

The project is expected to take from four to six weeks. The rockery will be restored after work is completed.

For more information on the project, contact SPU Project Manager Bob Stewart at (206) 256-5399 or bob.stewart@seattle.gov.
