Fall Campaign for Volunteer Park

Our annual Fall Campaign raises the needed funds to keep our restoration work and free community programs going.
If you’ve taken a walk in Volunteer Park recently, you’ve likely seen a lot of wonderful changes. The new Amphitheater is nearly completed, impacts from encampments are being cleaned up, and people are walking their dogs, playing frisbee, and safely enjoying the park more than ever.
In addition, our 2nd Saturday Work Parties have weeded and restored major garden beds, and the Trust-led task force successfully lobbied Seattle Parks to remove the offensive memorial plaque, making the park more welcoming for all. We at Volunteer Park Trust are proud to have helped with these improvements.
Now, as we look to the future, our community survey helped identify more of Volunteer Park’s top physical needs, and we’ll be engaging in three new capital projects:
• Picnic Tables: We’ll be purchasing more picnic tables for the park.
• Litter/Recycle Bins: Beautiful, Olmsted-style metal bins will replace the existing plastic bins.
• Drinking Fountains: We’ll be repairing or replacing the two drinking fountains on either side of the Asian Art Museum, including any necessary plumbing repairs.
Even more exciting is our Amphitheater Grand Opening and Summer Series next year, which will feature multicultural music, theater and dance, with seven free events!
We can’t do this important work alone. Seattle Parks still has millions of dollars in backlogged maintenance costs, and we need your help to maintain the park at its best.
